Tulsa Opera TV Commercial: Norma; Eaton Design wins Graphex Gold Awards

The Tulsa Opera’s Norma spot is Eaton Design‘s third and final TV commercial installment for the 2010-2011 Tulsa Opera season. Brad explains how he turned the 2D illustration into a captivating 3D world: “When I first saw the illustration, I instantly knew what I wanted to do for this piece. I wanted to take the viewer into the illustration and bring it to life. We began by creating a few trees from the original illustration, and repeating them randomly in 3D space to create a forest scene. The camera was animated though the forest to dramatically reveal the text. This technique was enhanced by adding fog and particles to help reveal words on screen. The idea was to transport the viewer into the mystical world that Norma floats through.” The background was animated to look like it was continually being painted on. The series was unified by this painterly look established in the illustration and identity. Special thanks to Jeff Savage for recommending us for this project!

Aired on Tulsa TV Stations CBS KOTV 6, ABC KTUL 8, as well as on Cox Cable.

Tulsa Opera TV Commercial: Don Giovanni

The Don Giovanni video is Eaton Design‘s second TV commercial installment for the 2010-2011 Tulsa Opera season. Kat began by teaming up with the Opera’s marketing director Maria Gaw to write the script. Brad then playfully animated elements of the custom illustration to pair with the humorous tones in the voice over. The animation incorporates creative camera moves that enhance the on-screen text, and uses artistic effects to illustrate the irony in the story’s events.

Airing now on Tulsa TV Stations CBS KOTV 6, ABC KTUL 8, as well as on Cox Cable.

Cooking up a Show

Eaton Design recently worked with Blue House Media to brand “The Culinary Kid.” The TV show formerly known as “Cooktime with Remmi”, a healthy cooking show hosted by a 10-year old girl, makes kitchen time exciting for both kids and adults. This young chef is gaining national recognition so her show should appear worthy of the top networks. The piece was directed by Levi Cathcart, who also shot Remi on green screen. Brad Eaton began by keying out the live action footage and motion tracking the shots to integrate video into the transitions. Organic illustrative-style flourishes were then integrated into the composition before setting it all in motion. Kat Eaton provided a logo update with the new wording and a light makeover while maintaining a visual tie to the original version. Catch it locally airing Wednesdays on Tulsa’s Cox Cable channel 3 and 703HD.

Tulsa Opera TV Commercial: La Traviata

Eaton Design has been selected to create TV commercials for the Tulsa Opera’s 2010/2011 season. Based on a refreshing new upscale identity and striking illustrations, the trio of spots put a new spin on traditional Opera advertising. Without footage of the actual performance, we focus on utilizing the custom illustrations to create enticing moods and environments as teasers for each opera’s story. This first spot for La Traviata reveals details within the illustration, animated with descriptive verbage, to express G. Verdi’s famous story of love, heartbreak, romance and tragedy.

Airing now on Tulsa TV Stations CBS KOTV 6, ABC KTUL 8, as well as on Cox Cable.

We feel privileged to receive such recognition with this local opportunity. Branding by Jeff Savage, Illustration by Hadley Hooper. Audio track of Sempre Libera provided by the Tulsa Opera (performed by Ileana Cotrubas).

green 2 gold

This spring I worked with Lee Abbot of Endorphin Entertainment, to create a graphics package for one of his new projects: green2gold tv, to air on ion television network.

“green2gold tv is a ½ hour magazine format TV series focusing on steering the planet towards a green future with profit. It’s about the entrepreneur and visionary geniuses who will champion the science and the technology to make the world a better place…now. From discovering new modes of energy, to 3rd world economic “green” recovery concepts, to simple new widgets you can use around the house – this show refuses to accept the slow pace of governments and big business.”

Kyocera Brand Product Video

Here is a newly animated 2010 Brand Product Video for KYOCERA Communications, Inc.
It’s a mixed media piece, largely compiled of 2D and 3D motion graphics, KYOCERA first used this in March in their booth on the Exhibit Floor of this year’s International CTIA Wireless Conference in Las Vegas, NV. I worked closely with Gene Strocco of GS3 Creative to animate this piece for Wind River Media. I hear the client loved video, not bad for a
rush job.

Mentor Animation

Just completed a big project for Mavis Media. This is an animated video for Mentor “Breast Face & Body Aesthetics” that will serve as an intro to their DVD to play in doctor’s offices. The video was entirely animated in After Effects with photos, text and flourishes. I used Trapcode Form to animate a large part of the box grids. Motion design by Brad Eaton, Director Mavis Davis. Total running time is 05:30.

Enlyten Trimworks Product Video

We recently produced a video for the enlyten trim works weight loss system. This showcases eaton design teamwork as we worked together to create everything from concept & storyboarding to the motion graphics. It’s also a good example of a simple but effective spot, based on existing branding, utilizing only minimal footage, text and still photos. The spot highlights several weight loss products in the trim works lineup. Written and designed by Kat Eaton. Motion graphics, 3D models and editing by Brad Eaton.
