Tulsa Opera TV Commercial: Norma; Eaton Design wins Graphex Gold Awards

The Tulsa Opera’s Norma spot is Eaton Design‘s third and final TV commercial installment for the 2010-2011 Tulsa Opera season. Brad explains how he turned the 2D illustration into a captivating 3D world: “When I first saw the illustration, I instantly knew what I wanted to do for this piece. I wanted to take the viewer into the illustration and bring it to life. We began by creating a few trees from the original illustration, and repeating them randomly in 3D space to create a forest scene. The camera was animated though the forest to dramatically reveal the text. This technique was enhanced by adding fog and particles to help reveal words on screen. The idea was to transport the viewer into the mystical world that Norma floats through.” The background was animated to look like it was continually being painted on. The series was unified by this painterly look established in the illustration and identity. Special thanks to Jeff Savage for recommending us for this project!

Aired on Tulsa TV Stations CBS KOTV 6, ABC KTUL 8, as well as on Cox Cable.
